Through the Looking Glass

Well....the San Francisco Decorator Showcase is over for this year, and it was quite a success. There was plenty of inspiration to keep me thinking until next year. There were luxurious sofas and creative wall treatments......beautiful beds and monumental art pieces....quirky accessories and sparkling mirrors....

Let's talk about the mirrors for just a sec. One in particular was a stunner. The designers at Greencouch, Jeff Schlarb and Lisa Bakamis had us all doing a double and triple take with a mirror they had in the bedroom space they created. At first glance, it seemed to be just another white framed mirror...nice, but not overly inspired......just some wall decor to take up empty space. But then I realized....I was not seeing my reflection. Either I was hallucinating, or I had been vampire-ized in the moment it took to come into this room. This was some crazy mirror!

The first room we entered was a ethereal white and ivory space with a striated Elitas wallpaper and Merida Meridian leather floor tiles. Bungalow 5 furnishings made an appearance along with Oly Studio and Noir Trading.

At once elegant and playful, I thought this bedroom was certainly pretty and perfect. A glance in that mirror took things to a whole new level.....

But that room in the mirror was a little off.....a bit darker perhaps? I thought it was a trick of the lighting....until a person who was not in my room walked into the room in the mirror. Clever......these designers took a trip through the Looking Glass and invented an alternate dimension on the other side. The room in the mirror was identical, except for one thing....it was a completely different color palette!

Same wallpaper, but a different colorway. Same floor tiles, but a dark slate color. Same chandeliers, different colors. The nightstand was green, as was the desk chair. The curtains and cornice were tangerine...the chairs were a gunmetal dark grey....

Even the wall art was the same...but a celery green....

Same bed....same lamps....

different fabrics on the beds....

What an opportunity! It is the only time I have ever been on the other side of the Looking Glass......

Thank you to Greencouch for bringing fantasy to life!

And a huge thank you to all of the wonderful designers from this year's San Francisco Decorator Showcase for working so hard and giving so much time and creativity to inspire us all. And a big thanks to all of the hardworking members involved in putting on a great Showcase year after year. Bravo!  I look forward to next year!

My PC has decided to have a spa day....or days....in fact I am hoping she has not skipped off altogether. In the meantime, I thought you might enjoy a little something new from Bungalow 5. A new versatile grey lacquer color on the Harlow Console and matching mirror, and don't you love those Pagoda style Brighton lamps?!

For a bunch more new things click HERE!

And for those of you in the New York area, Bungalow 5 will be opening a new Showroom in NYC in September! ( 251 West 30th, 10th Floor). Oh you lucky pups!

When my PC returns from her...ahem...vacation, I hope you will enjoy my blog post on the beautiful Lake Tahoe! Stay tuned!

Bungalow 5... at it again

Just in case you are not on the mailing list, I wanted to make sure you all saw this. Bungalow 5 has a new website and some new stuff! And you all know how much I like new stuff. Like this:

Catherine 3 Drawer Side

This chest at first glance seems a little been-there-done-that....til you realize it is black GLASS. Very glam. Very chic.

Renee Lamp

Ever on the look out for lamps, I always check in with Bungalow for well priced and lovely lamps like these.

Alexandra Lamp

Wouldn't this chest be the perfect thing for a serene guest room. The icy blue color....so calm and pretty.

Brigitte Large Chest

Nail heads always add a little bit more style, don't they? And when put on a classic shape like this Parsons style table, what is not to love?

Marco Low Table

This new chest is very Dorothy Draper. It comes in lacquered parchment white grass cloth as well as toast brown and moss green, any of which would be wonderful in a front hall :

Isabella Chest

This modern take on the classic garden stool jazzes things up a bit. It would be fun in a contemporary space or traditional, inside or out:

Greta Garden Seat

Just thought you'd like to know.

It's Finished....for now.

Thanks to all of you who have been patiently waiting for pictures of my daughter's room! It is finally in a state where pictures can be taken. I had been waiting to find the right, affordable lamps, hang the sheers at the windows and on the bed, and to hang a bit of art on the walls. And while it is still a work in progress (every room in our house always is), it has turned out to be rather pretty. The most important thing is that she loves it.

Some of you have asked where things were found or purchased. So here we go: The bed is from IKEA and we painted it white. The bedside chests are from Bungalow 5. Lamps are from Home Depot ( I know!). The little suzani I found on ebay. The sweet portrait I found at a flea market and looks so much like my daughter.

The rug is from West Elm (no longer available). Sheets and Duvet Cover were from PBteen. Sheers were from IKEA. Matelisse Bedspread and Shams were from Crate and Barrel.

Dresser was from Jayson Home and Garden. Lamps on the dresser are vintage. Mirror is from the Nate Berkus Collection on HSN. Coral "sconces" are from Urban Outfitters. Louis Ghost Chair is from DWR.

If you check here, you can see the ideas that we had when putting the room together. It came pretty close I think!

So there you have it!
